FINDING MEANING AND PURPOSE
Whether you are a secular humanist, faith-based and/or a spiritual seeker, you would not be reading this if you were not drawn to the need to find your own “TRUE NORTH” and to integrate mind, body, and spirit into your life and work. These times require it of us; our personal health and the heath of the planet depend upon our being in touch with and acting from our innermost self.
Some of you may be looking for guidance along your path or journey, Others may be looking for job enrichment, deeper engagement in some aspect of your life or exploration of career options.
As a coach, I see it as my responsibility to:
- Listen to you and Encourage you to listen to your own inner guidance.
- Help you learn to be silent with your questions as well as
- Find your strongest and truest voice.
- Guide you in the pursuit of the new and unknown.
- Remind you of the power of intention.
- Suggest ways for you to be creative in your problem solving, Open yourself so Spirit can enter your explorations.
- Work with you as you write and implement an action plan and Provide support, feedback and follow up as requested.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND SKILL
Confidence and skill are related like a playground merry-go round where you need to run and jump on. If you are too slow, you never get the momentum to enjoy the ride. If you are too fast, you are afraid to jump on for that ride.
A good coach can help you identify the skill sets needed in a particular situation OR work with those you have already chosen.
A good coach can then help you PINPOINT the precise aspects needed to improve. I once had a young tennis coach tell me to adjust my service toss by tossing the ball 500 times to a certain height and then incorporating that change into my serve. He was right! It improved my game after just ½ hour!
Steps include
ASSESSMENT of skills, knowledge, feelings, situational variables, learning style, effective strategies for success, available means of gaining support.
INFORMATIONAL INPUT-Providing handouts, suggested readings, discussions, ideas for informational interviews, observations of others, etc.
DESIGN of MEANINGFUL APPLICATION AND PRACTICE ACTIVITIES.
FEEDBACK, FEEDFORWARD and ADJUSTMENT TO THE PLAN as needed.

BEING EFFECTIVE IN YOUR PRESENT OR FUTURE ROLE
Sometimes it is hard to get a handle on the contextual and situational demands of the role(s) we take on. Sometimes the climate or culture is different than what one expected. Sometimes one needs to develop a better understanding of the industry or system. Sometimes it is the work group or manager that challenges our sense of what ought to happen.
Here are just a few examples:
The School superintendent who laments: “I knew how to grow schools and I was darn good at it, but in a time of down-sizing, I am not so sure…”.
The director of religious education who is having difficulty adjusting to the new minister who seems to be stepping in and undermining her work and authority.
The successful salesperson that finds supervising sales staff is drastically different than anticipated.
The hospital administrative assistant who feels all the new “work smarter initiatives” have just piled on more work and is ready to quit.
Together we can determine if the situation is workable and how to make it work. If it is the wrong match for you or if the situation is just too toxic, you also need to know that and make plans to move on.
